Area Fifty Funk by Josh Vasquez (the guitarist), performed by Jazz Avenue @ the SchooljamUSA contest in Downtown Disney.

I’m so proud of our boys (what we’ve been saying this weekend). It’s crazy to see your own close friends first of all make it to the finalists of a national contest, and it’s just mind blowing to know that they WON the national contest as the Best Teen Band of the Nation. I believe that title is completely accurate for them. They are some of the most talented musicians I have ever met, especially at their age, and I’m honored to even be their friends. When they won, all of us supporting them in the audience went crazy. I cried tears of joy and excitement, Paige was crying, along with plenty of others. We’re so proud of them! They finally got the recognition they deserve for their incredible talent, and I feel so happy for them and so proud. They rightfully earned first place. So, so, so proud! 

I’m also proud of Josh and John individually for winning the awards as Best Guitarist and Judge’s Choice. Especially John. I’ve always seen him as ‘second to Chaz,’ but it’s AMAZING that within such a short period of time he’s gotten so much better and is at a level where he can be compared to Chaz (of course, they’re both amazing!). But I’m proud that he’s becoming much and much better. He, too, deserved that award. 

Also, it’s crazy that their original music just sounds so… Professional. And they’re so young. My gosh.

Not to mention, we won the competition with a VERY sick drummer, AND a guitarist who just got surgery for appendicitis 3 or 4 days prior to the performance. That’s wsup. I FREAKING LOVE THEM. We’ll probably party it up tomorrow during Jazz Band tomorrow. Haay.

Also, Jazz Avenue, have fun in Germany in 2 months! And goodluck performing for the 4,000 people over there who will be watching you! :)
